As a young engineer with a promising career in the early 1970's, Terry Underwood had the fortune of experiencing the creation and development of a growing company in Kamloops - as a partner in Urban Systems Ltd. During these early years, he utilized exceptional technical and interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with a wide range of clients throughout the interior of B.C. This trend continues to form the basis for his career.

In 1986, Terry left USL to start work "on his own" as T.R. Underwood Engineering Ltd. Within a few months of setting up shop at 1212 Victoria Street, Terry acquired the skills of Glen Dale-Johnson, a civil technologist (and neighbour) that was previously working  for Stanley and Associates.

Over the course of the next 5 years, the company grew in response to an increased client list and project workload. Several engineers joined the team to form a working partnership with Terry, including Barry Gowing, Brian Rintoul, and Rod Gobelle. The varied skill sets that each of these individuals possessed allowed the company to move forward and provide increasingly diverse services to an expanding client base.

In 1991, the company outgrew its office space and moved a few blocks to 655 Victoria Street. During this time, we also acquired the engineering and technical computer skills of Brock Nanson. Brock would play a key role in helping the company stride into a digital world.

In the late 1990's, our small company underwent an immense amount of change. We further expanded our capabilities by hiring an urban planner and landscape architect. The corporate headquarters was moved to its present location at 2079 Falcon Road. A second office was opened in Kelowna and the company name evolved to its current form; TRUE Consulting Group.
